George W Bush total number of vacation days = 490 days at the ranch, 487 at Camp David, & 43 days at Kennebunkport. And what did they do to the ranch at tax payer expense because he was president. Leased the land next to it, then built a helipad and hangar (which also doubled for press conferences when needed); added a security gate & small trailer for the Secret Service at the entrance; built a compound for the Secret Service to live; added security equipment for his protection; purchased two double-wide trailers – one as a communications center linked to the White House & one for the top five members of his staff; and we paid the Hilton hotel bills of other staff members who flew in for meetings and such, like the press secretary. Bush didn’t stay at the ranch the whole time as attended fundraisers and other PR events. He purchased the ranch right before he announced his candidacy and bought a home in Dallas after he left office as Laura said she didn’t want to live there. Oh, and the three weekends after 9/11 were spent at Camp David.
As I said elsewhere, because they are the First Family, security issues come into play, so they can’t very well go to places like Disney World as there are too many tourists there. GOP is ignoring common sense here.
One last thing…Eisenhower played golf 222 days (or 31.7 weeks) during the 8 years he was president.
